The C evolution: from concept to series production readiness

Behind every new movement there is also a story. An idea turns into a concept study, a concept study turns into an electric scooter ready for series production. Here we relive the path from Concept C to the C evolution. And one thing is for sure – the story will continue. On two wheels. For tomorrow’s urban mobility.


Greater range. Greater riding pleasure.

The claim of BMW Motorrad does not simply consist of resting on success of former times. The aim is to challenge the latest state of the art each time once more. Since the end of 2016, the new C evolution uses the battery modules of the latest BMW i3. With only one charge they provide a range up to 160 km (WMTC). Thereby, the first electrical premium maxi-scooter worldwide raised the bar even higher and offers more riding pleasure


Moving forward without emissions.

At the IAA 2011, BMW Motorrad is presenting the BMW Concept e, an electrically powered maxi-scooter for riding in the city permitting trouble-free, zero-emissions local mobility. This is also reflected by its design which intends to highlight the typical BMW Motorrad look, featuring components which clearly show that this scooter is driven by a modern electric drive. The colours Light White and and the greenish tinted Electric Yellow dominate this electric scooter’s visual appeal.


The crowning achievement.

Heading for success step by step. Thanks to the Concept C and Concept e studies, BMW Motorrad can now present the series-ready C evolution, an electric maxi-scooter to be sold from spring 2014. The name and the look emphasise the perfected evolution of the BMW Concept e which was already presented as the future of urban mobility at the Frankfurt Motorshow in 2011.


A look into the future.

BMW Motorrad presents a scooter concept for the first time at the Milan EICMA motorcycle show which is considerably bigger in direct comparison to the shortly before presented MINI Scooter E Concept. Even though combustion engines are still the mainstream, people are openly talking about possible electric variants. The aim for the Concept C is to combine the typical handling properties of a scooter with the stability of a motorcycle thus making the best out to two worlds.
